PMO India : Report Card
Big in fact very big and disruptive initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi government that will change the way banking is done in India. specially in rural areas.
Work has already been started by Department of Posts, Govt. of India to install ATM's and Micro-ATM's across all post offices in the country. More than 10,000 Post Offices are#CBS enabled and Counting.
As per Reserve Bank of India report of OCT, 2015 there are 1,90,859 ATM's across the country with State Bank of India leading with 56,631 ATM's. Of the 1,90,859-odd ATMs in India today, approximately 25 percent of them are in villages, where a vast majority of the unbanked population lives.
Currently India has largest Postal Network in the world with 1,54,882 post-offices of which 1,39,182 (89.86%) are in the rural areas. Very soon all these post offices will have CBS facility along with ATM's.
In August, 2014, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched an ambitious financial inclusion program, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana प्रधानमंत्री जन धन योजना or #PMJDY. The core objective of the program is to ensure that every citizen has a bank account and a debit card. It has been a huge success, having already covered 99.74 percent of households.
Within about five months of its launch, the scheme added 10 million new bank accounts. As of July 2015, there were over 17 million new accounts, out of which about 10 million were in rural India.
Just imagine the scale of this initiative ... your mind will be blown away.
Modi government is silently working to improve the condition of economy and people but sad that some pathological haters and presstitutes are unable to process this development.
Dream of connecting every rural village with banks, internet & roads will be reality very soon. This is called OVERALL DEVELOPMENT
